Medusa – a beautiful maiden, desired by all but bound to none – gorgeous although deadly. Medusa was born with a lovely face and even the great sea god Poseidon couldn’t resist the temptation which makes Medusa an innocent victim of the wrath of the gods. Enraged, the virgin goddess Athena transformed Medusa’s enchanting hair into a coil of serpents, turning the youngest Gorgon into a monster; those who gazed into her eyes would turn to stone – hard, strong and eternal. Medusa – her means ‘to protect’.
